When Harry Bertoia first created his series of wire seating, it was born out of necessity. Following the Second World War, there was a shortage of metal that meant manufacturing chairs was becoming increasingly difficult. This created a unique opportunity for Bertoia who welcomed designing something with minimal metal that utilised his wire skills. The result was a series of space enhancing creations that are as popular now as they were back then. The sculptural design really is a unique arrangement of chrome and air – space literally passes through the design. Featuring a chrome frame and plush leatherette seat pads, this is dining with a difference.
